Like Google and Bing, SearchScene makes its money from showing relevant ads with your search results. These appear at the top and bottom of your search results and are clearly labelled. If you are using SearchScene on a desktop computer, then you may also see ads displayed to the right-hand side of your search results - again, these are clearly labelled.
Not all search results contain ads. Ads tend to be shown for commercial types of searches, e.g. "lawn mowers", "hair straighteners", "hotels in Paris", etc. They tend not to be shown for non-commercial search queries, such as "How old is Donald Trump?", "How big is the Amazon rainforest?", etc.
SearchScene's advertising originates from our search partner, Microsoft Bing. Our agreement allows us to run ads in the following countries...
United States, Germany, United Kingdom, France, Canada, Australia, Netherlands, Spain, Italy, New Zealand, Belgium, Sweden, Switzerland, India, Austria, Brazil, Denmark, Norway and Finland.
If you are using SearchScene outside of these countries, then it is possible that you may never see ads delivered along with your search results. Outside of these countries, SearchScene may not work properly - in particular, you may not receive results for image searches or news searches.
If you are using SearchScene in a country that is not listed above and you never see ads with your search results, then there is probably not much point in you using SearchScene. Without the ad revenue we can generate from being able to show you targeted advertising, we will not be able to monetise your search results - this means that your searches will not help us raise money towards our supported charities. We are really sorry if this is the case.
We are working to add more countries to our list, so our list of supported countries will hopefully grow as SearchScene expands and gains more worldwide traction.
